Comic Book Tattoo #1
This ambitious 2008 Image anthology collects comics stories inspired by the music of Tori Amos, and the cover by Jason Levesque sets a dreamy, stylized tone right from the start. Two figures dominate the image — a dark-haired aviator in golden goggles looming large in the foreground, and a red-haired woman with intricate tattoos and a flight helmet reclined behind the cockpit controls, birds and flowing hair trailing across a cloudy sky. With David Mack writing and illustrating "Flying Dutchman" among the featured stories, this oversized collection feels like a genuine meeting point between sequential art and song.
