Richel hires Conan to track down Narada and his stolen gold. Abandoned by Narada, Tolkhan allies with Conan to track her down. Soon they realise that anyone who has had "encounters" with Narada has contracted a disease devised by Richel. Tolkhan and Conan discover that Richel has already murdered Narada and plotted the whole encounter. Conan forces Rinaldo to cure Tolkhan. Rinaldo is hanged.
