Conan Annual #8
In "Dark Night of the White Queen," Jim Owsley and Val Mayerik deliver a mythic tale that spans millennia, beginning with Kull and his Red Slayers confronting a fanatical cult worshipping the nameless serpent god. When the cult prepares to sacrifice a newborn mother and her twin children—avatars of their deity—Kull orders his loyal advisor Tu to kill the infants, but Tu spares them, entrusting the twins to a passing shepherd. Ten thousand years later, Conan must face the unforeseen repercussions of that mercy, as the legacy of those forgotten children begins to stir. Val Mayerik’s dynamic artwork, from the cover to the interior, brings this timeless conflict to life, with Steve Mellor’s colors and Rick Parker’s lettering adding depth to the tale.
