When the Baron demands a trial by ordeal—drowning in a well—Conan pulls him from the water to question him, testing the limits of justice and vengeance. Meanwhile, survivor Lysander stirs from unconsciousness, and Prince Taurus, drawn into forbidden magic, is carried off by a colossal flaming bird. Recovered from being poisoned, King Conan goes after Baron Aemilius, believing the Baron is responsible for Prince Conn's death. The Baron requests a trial by Ordeal (water) and starts to drown, but King Conan pulls him from the water in order to interrogate him. Lysander, one of Prince Conn's guards survived the ambush and regains consciousness. Prince Taurus starts to dabble in dark magic and is swept away from the castle by a giant flaming bird.
