Conquest 2099 #5

The finale of Conquest 2099 arrives with a cover by Leinil Francis Yu that says it all: a massive, roaring gorilla-like warrior looms at the center, twin-bladed axe raised in triumph, surrounded by a rain-soaked battlefield where a red-suited Spider-Man lies fallen and armored figures — including one bearing what appears to be a futuristic Thor helmet — are caught in the chaos of a massive horde closing in from all sides. That banner reading "Victory of the Death Spiders!!!" sets a suitably grim tone for this concluding chapter, "Utopia Reborn," from writer Steve Orlando and artist José Luís. Whether that victory holds is a question for the interior pages, but this cover makes a compelling case for seeing it through to the end.
