Arizona Raines tangles with an outlaw and his associates who are obstructing government plans. A woman named Thalia built a secret doorway years ago to help Raines escape, and together they work against the criminals threatening the region. After confrontations involving a cavalry troop and a detective named Rupert searching for the fugitive "Bug" Lanyard, Raines ultimately captures the criminal and brings him to justice, with Thalia's assistance proving instrumental to his success.

A man with no name and no memory arrives in Dead Canyon, and Doc Frisby takes him in—calling him John Doe until his past catches up with him. As John settles into work at the stagecoach office and grows close to the doctor's daughter June, a detective arrives hot on the trail of the notorious highwayman Buck Lanyard, whose true identity remains a mystery even to the law. With suspicion mounting and John's quick gun hand drawing unwanted attention, the question of who he really is becomes harder to ignore.
