Arizona Raines and his young partner Spurs ride into the seemingly peaceful town of Laurel Ridge, only to discover a sinister pattern: its sheriffs keep ending up dead, victims of mysterious assassins with unknown motives. When a storekeeper and an entire family are brutally killed, Arizona launches a private investigation to uncover who—and why—someone is systematically eliminating the town's lawmen and innocent citizens. As suspicion and danger close in around the new sheriff, Arizona must piece together the clues before the killers strike again.
Frontier Marshal Bob Allen grows suspicious of a smooth-talking mine operator named Sloat, whose previous ventures have left investors ruined—and when a desperate man is shot down trying to confront him, Allen's instincts prove right. Sloat and his crew rig a deadly trap at the mine to silence the marshal, but Allen must outwit their greed-fueled scheme and expose the con before an entire town loses everything to the swindler's latest claim.
