Crypt of Shadows #10
In "The Man in the Tank!", a curious scientist becomes obsessed with a mysterious jacket that swallows anything placed in its bottomless right pocket—leading him down a rabbit hole of strange experiments and increasingly desperate attempts to communicate with the unknown. Ross Andru's dynamic art and Mike Esposito's inks bring a surreal, creeping dread to the tale, while John Romita and Ernie Chan's cover captures the eerie allure of the jacket’s hidden depths. A 25-cent mystery from 1974, this issue stands out for its unsettling premise and quiet, escalating tension.

A mysterious jacket has a spell on it that compels any who wear to stuff objects into the bottomless right pocket. A scientist figures he can get rich if he can figure out the secret of the other dimension and tries inserting various objects, even a note attempting to communicate, but he cannot figure out what object the other dimensional beings are looking for. Finally, he sticks his head in attempting to see, and falls all the way in. When the jacket is found the next day, the pocket now has a bottom sewn in.
