Cyclops sneaks aboard Black Tom and Juggernaut's airplane as they return to Ulysses. Ulysses double-crosses them and disables the plane. Tom and Juggernaut bail out. Cyclops is shocked when the aircraft pops through a portal into the Savage Land and lands. Cyclops meets Ulysses, a former soldier who blames the X-Men for the death of his unit. The pair battle and Ulysses gets the upper hand as he can turn invisible. With his visor taken and one of the lenses of his ruby quartz glasses cracked, Cyclops ducks into an underground cavern and causes a cave in to get away from his deadly opponent.
