The issue contains two stories: "Jolly Jim Dandy," in which a young frontiersman encounters Native Americans who are after him, ducks being hunted, and a bear on the trail, ultimately discovering that the man he believed was an enemy forest runner was actually Dan'l Boone himself. A second story follows involving thieves who steal Dan'l Boone's skins, prompting him to pursue them to their settlement hideout, where he must learn their ways to recover his stolen goods and deal with the criminals threatening the frontier.

When a flatboat captain called Big Mike Trent secretly betrays his crew to Shawnee warriors in exchange for diamonds, Dan'l Boone discovers the treachery firsthand—and decides the double-dealing river pilot needs to answer for his crimes.
