The second volume of Damien Marie and Sébastien Goethals's tense thriller Dans mes veines arrives from Grand Angle with a cover that crackles with danger — a young man in a leather jacket levels a pistol at a woman while simultaneously reaching out to grasp her hand, the whole scene bathed in a deep, unsettling crimson. That push-and-pull between threat and intimacy, set against a blur of warm city lights, perfectly captures the charged atmosphere this series does so well. If the first volume drew you in, Tome 2 looks set to tighten the grip considerably.
