Daring Mystery Comics #3
In "The Escape of Red Corker," cub reporter Jones uncovers a shocking conspiracy in 1940’s Daring Mystery Comics #3, where a wave of violent attacks on east side families isn’t random crime—but a calculated scheme by powerful figures looking to seize property. Written by Robert Erisman and illustrated by Sam Cooper, the story unfolds with sharp social commentary and early pulp intrigue, all anchored by the mysterious Red Corker’s daring escape. The cover by Alex Schomburg captures the tension perfectly, a 10-cent comic that’s as sharp in its message as it is in its art.

Cub reporter Jones is assigned a case in which seven families on the east side of town have been wantonly beaten, resulting in three deaths. He soon discovers, as the Phantom Reporter, that the Park Commissioner, Police Chief and the publisher of several newspapers were behind it all... each having vested interest in the property on the east side, and hoping that the crime wave would get people to vacate their property so they could pick it up cheaply!
