Sentry has been shot in the face by his wife and she reveals he originally gained his powers, not through any heroic deeds, but because he was a drug addict. Sentry survives the blast and finds himself battling the Void inside of him. Horrified by what he has become, he tries to kill himself by flying into the sun but fails.
