“De Kraai in de puree”

The brooding, blue-toned cover of this fourth volume in Lax's De Kraai series sets a distinctly noir mood, dominated by a close-up of a tense, weary-looking man whose expression suggests he's deep in trouble — fitting perfectly with the subtitle In de puree ("In a mess"). Published by Dupuis/Spotlight in 2002, the moody linework is entirely the work of Christian Lacroix, writing, drawing, and inking under his pen name Lax. If the cover is any indication, De Kraai's latest chapter promises atmosphere and tension in equal measure.
