Dead Mall #3

Dark Horse's Dead Mall keeps the dread dialed up in issue #3, with a cover showing a massive, grotesque fist seemingly composed of fused human faces looming over a prone figure on a tile floor — a severed head and a knife nearby completing the deeply unsettling scene. The collaged background layers shooting-range targets and fragmented newsprint, giving the whole image a creepy, pulpy texture that suits the series' horror-mall atmosphere perfectly. Adam Cesare, David Stoll, and Justin Birch are delivering one of 2023's more genuinely disturbing horror comics, and this cover alone makes a strong case for seeing it through.
