“The X-Man”

In "The X-Man," Deadpool’s chaotic generosity accidentally funds a deadly hit, setting off a chain of absurd consequences when he pledges the final 20 million to a televised fundraiser meant to hire Agent X. Written by David Lapham and brought to life with bold, kinetic art by Kyle Baker—both in pencils, inks, and colors—this 2012 Max issue blends dark humor and high-stakes irony with Deadpool’s trademark irreverence. The cover by Kyle Baker captures the moment’s escalating absurdity with sharp, stylized flair.

The Crystal Church hires Agent X to kill Hydra Bob. Unfortunately, they haven't quite raised the 50 million dollars they need to hire the bounty hunter so they hold a televised pledge drive. Impressed by Agent X's story (and not realizing it is his Bob that the killer is tracking), Deadpool calls and pledges the final 20 million needed to pay for the contract. Whoops!
