This issue features two stories. The main story follows Debbie Dean, a career girl who becomes entangled in a romantic drama when a man she knew from college, who is now a boxer, unexpectedly encounters her and requests she write about his upcoming championship fight; she discovers his motivations are rooted in winning her back. The second story, "The Murders in the Rue Morgue" (adapted by Chad from Edgar Allan Poe), depicts a chance meeting between two friends in Paris who rent a room together and become fascinated by a brilliant character named C. Auguste Dupin, whose sharp mind helps the narrator solve a mysterious murder case involving bodies found in an old morgue despite an apparent absence of motive.

C. Auguste Dupin

In a Parisian apartment, a young man recounts to C. Auguste Dupin how a terrified gorilla, escaped from his care, committed a brutal double murder in the Rue Morgue. Dupin pieces together the crime using logic and overlooked clues, revealing how the beast’s panic and strength led to the horrific scene—while the sailor, though innocent, must face suspicion and the weight of his own past.
