“Der Schwarze Ritter kehrt zurück!”

In "Der Schwarze Ritter kehrt zurück!", Dane Whitman steps into the mantle of the Black Knight, haunted by memories of his uncle’s demise as he prepares to confront Magneto. Quicksilver’s desperate escape gives the Avengers a warning—but when Dane arrives, they see only an enemy, not a savior. Meanwhile, in Olympus, Hercules discovers the gods have vanished and the Promethean Flame is dead, plunging the realm into silence. Written by Roy Thomas and Hartmut Huff, with art and inks by George Tuska, this 1976 issue blends personal legacy with mythic crisis, all on a cover by Tuska.

Quicksilver escapes from Magneto long enough to alert the Avengers, but he is recaptured. Dane Whitman recalls the death of his uncle, the villainous Black Knight, as he prepares to become the new Black Knight to fight Magneto himself. But when he meets the Avengers, they attack him, not knowing that this new Black Knight is on their side. Meanwhile, in Olympus, Hercules finds that the gods are missing and the Promethean Flame has been extinguished.
