Donjon #3
In Donjon #3 (2000), the Guardian of the Donjon launches a desperate scheme to save the crumbling fortress: he sends out letters signed by the fictional Herbert de Vaucanson, claiming Princess Isis of Céphalonia is imprisoned within. But when the letters draw real attention, the truth emerges—Princess Isis is no myth, but a real princess, daughter of the Ataman of the Kochaques, and she’s vanished. Written by Joann Sfar and Lewis Trondheim, with art and inks by both, and lettered by Trondheim, this issue blends absurdity and intrigue with the signature whimsy of the series. The cover, penciled and inked by Lewis Trondheim, captures the surreal tone perfectly.
