Den puritanske äventyraren Solomon Kane är i Transylvanien och söker efter den försvunna Rosella Carson. Han överfalls av banditer och räddas sedan undan en vargflock av greve Dracula. Greven erbjuder Kane husrum i sitt slott och Kane accepterar. Under natten attackeras han av en mystisk flicka som visar sig vara Rosella förvandlad till vampyr. Kane dödar henne och ger sig sedan på greve Dracula. Han besegrar greven i en duell, men när Dracula kräver att som gentjänst bli skonad är Kane bunden av sin heder. Han skonar Dracula och ger sig av.
