Durango Kid #3
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis anthology issue features multiple western stories. In the main Durango Kid tale, the masked hero tends to a wounded man and is questioned by a sheriff about recent murders; Durango denies involvement and reveals someone is impersonating him. The story then shifts to a romantic subplot in which a man named Dick Lanahan tries to convince a woman named Rita to stay at his ranch rather than follow the Durango Kid, but Rita ultimately leaves him. A secondary story involves conflict between Native Americans and white settlers, with a chief called Eye of Hawk warning of war if the settlers do not make peace, leading to violent confrontation between the two groups.
When someone in a black mask and white horse starts robbing and murdering across the territory—wearing the Durango Kid's exact colors—folks are quick to blame the real outlaw fighter for justice. Now the Kid himself must track down the imposter before the noose tightens, all while his wounded partner Muley lies bleeding and the whole town closes in. With a suspicious doctor named Doc Slade holding dangerous secrets, the Durango Kid rides straight into a deadly gamble to prove his innocence.
When the Durango Kid rescues Rita Travers from an ambush, he agrees to help her reach Fang Rock by noon to claim her inherited ranchland—but ruthless lawyer Jed Patch has other plans, sabotaging their journey at every turn with increasingly desperate schemes. As Rita and the Durango Kid race against time across treacherous terrain, Patch finds an unexpected ally in a citified newcomer with his own reasons for wanting Rita to fail. With the clock ticking and danger mounting, the stage is set for a final confrontation that will test the Durango Kid's resolve and Rita's determination to build her new life out West.
