"Homicide Handicap" follows detective Julian Cross as he investigates the murder of an old man named Pop Quigley, discovering that a man named Radcliff killed him during a robbery after running him down with a car—a crime Radcliff initially made appear accidental until Cross identifies him through the victim's dying testimony. In a separate story, Joe and his boss discover a secret door in their building that leads to the lair of villains who possess a mystical stone idol with glowing eyes; the heroes, including a character called Daisy in red, must battle against these criminals and their control of the powerful artifact. The issue showcases multiple adventure tales typical of Golden Age anthology comics.
When chemist Dr. Anton Gore's deadly Tangerine Terror formula is ordered destroyed by the War Department, he refuses to give up his creation—and Dynamic Man and Dynamic Boy are summoned to track down the fleeing scientist before his citrus-scented poison can be weaponized. Racing to Santo Martinez Island, where Gore has allied with rebel chieftain Jose Muerte, the two heroes must storm a fortified position to prevent a catastrophic attack on government troops.
Yankee Boy must stop a sinister operation peddling dangerous "reefer" cigarettes that cloud users' minds and drive them to crime—but when he shadows the Reefer King to a remote hemp farm, he discovers a far larger conspiracy that demands he work alone and fast. With a small-town tobacconist already silenced and the racket ready to uproot and move to the next city, Yankee Boy has to outwit criminals twice his size and shut down the poison before it spreads further.
