“Last Exit to Nowheresville”

In "Last Exit to Nowheresville," Elvira, Skull Nakano, and Vladia hit the desert highway only to stumble upon a town frozen in eerie silence—its people turned into zombified watchers by mysterious TV broadcasts. Written by Frank Strom and illustrated by Ronn Sutton with inks by Bruce Patterson and letters by Susan Dorne, this 1999 Claypool Comics tale unfolds as Elvira and Skull uncover the underground W.H.I.S.P.E.R. network controlling the broadcasts via a massive satellite dish. Cover by Ronn Sutton, the issue blends surreal horror and roadside adventure as the trio fights their way through the conspiracy, commandeers a W.H.I.S.P.E.R. tank, and takes down a flying zeppelin to bring the dish—and the signal—crashing down.
