In this first issue, Miss Emma Woodhouse finds herself entangled in the romantic affairs of her friend Harriet Smith, gently (and perhaps too confidently) steering her toward Mr. Elton while quietly dismissing the earnest farmer Robert Martin. The cover by Janet K. Lee captures the story’s sharp wit and period charm.
