On a trip over the Pacific Ocean in a space shuttle, Mr. Menace talks with his partner Darkwind, relating to him his origin. He recalls how he met Dr. Ludwig at UCLA and worked with him on the matrix gene. Menace, whose real name was Dennis Menace, volunteered to be the test subject. But when he acquired superhuman strength as a result of the experiment, he killed Dr. Ludwig. Vortex and Electron show up on board the shuttle to interrupt Menace's reminiscing.
