In this pivotal 1986 issue from Firebird Press, Dr. McMann takes desperate action after being ordered to halt the Energons' rampage, unleashing the powerful Micron and Neutron in a bid to eliminate the remaining threats. When the other three Energons return to the lab and restore the Electron suit to him, McMann dons the armor and departs with them—only to be watched by a shadowy informant who alerts the demonic villain Dredd. Written and illustrated entirely by Sherman Burnett, this issue marks a turning point in the series, with the cover by Burnett capturing the intensity of the moment.

Dr. McMann is ordered to stop the Energons because of the deaths they have caused. He activates Micron and Neutron in order to "find and destroy the other Energons." The other three Energons have returned to the lab, however, and return the suit to him. McMann dons the Electron suit and flies off with the Energons. A spy reports their escape to the demonic-looking villain Dredd.
