Evil road #[nn]

Dominique Monféry's Evil Road announces itself with exactly the kind of cover energy its title promises — two weathered older men crammed into an open-topped vehicle, one gripping the wheel wide-eyed while the other thrusts a defiant middle finger toward a blinding burst of light ahead. The warm amber and burnt-orange palette, entirely Monféry's own work from line to color, gives the whole scene a sun-scorched, anything-goes atmosphere that feels equal parts road movie and dark comedy. If this 2018 Dark Dragon Books release is any indication, the journey ahead for these two is going to be anything but smooth.
