"Belinda and the Magic Jug," by Vera Caradine, tells of a girl who receives a magical Toby jug from her grandmother that comes to life as a tiny man, causing mischief around the house and garden until Belinda manages to stop him. "Spengella and the Giant" depicts a brave girl who encounters a city ruled by a giant; she manages to save herself and help others by using her wits and magic.
