When King Henry VIII dies in 1547, his scheming brother-in-law Edward Seymour seizes control of the young King Edward VI and crowns himself Lord Protector, ruling England with the boy-king as his puppet. But Seymour's grip on power faces serious threats—most dangerously from the cunning Lord John Dudley, and unexpectedly from his own brother Thomas Seymour, both hungry for the authority he claims. As rival factions circle closer, the frail ten-year-old king becomes the prize in a ruthless game of political intrigue.

In "null," young adventurer Dickie Dare teams up with Dan Flynn and the resourceful Dr. Murdock to uncover sunken chests of gold, only to be betrayed by Captain Yakovac and his henchman Hans, who cut the cables and strand Dickie and Dan on the ocean floor. With Murdock captured and the treasure out of reach, the doctor escapes, sabotages the engine, and races to rescue them before they're trapped beneath the waves. A mysterious airplane flown by the enigmatic Anise la Tour—Haiti’s beautiful voodoo priestess—sweeps them away, leaving Murdock behind, but Dickie soon breaks free with the help of a local boy and sets off to find the doctor once more.

When Uncle Elby spots a gopher wreaking havoc on his lawn, he and Napoleon team up to chase the little pest out of its holes and corner it. After a spirited confrontation, Elby's conscience gets the better of him—the two of them are picking on a creature that weighs barely ten ounces—so he decides to cage the gopher and release it far from home. Things don't quite go as planned when the grateful (or perhaps ungrateful) gopher shows its true nature.

Uncle Elby's luck finally turns around when he wins a turkey in a raffle—his first prize ever—but Napoleon has other ideas about what should happen to the bird. This one-page romp plays out the comedy of a man trying to keep his mischievous animal companion from derailing his rare moment of triumph.
