I sin jakt på ett botemedel åt Diana anländer Fantomen till Egypten och söker upp den utgrävning där André Junot och Mark Prescott arbetar. Fantomen ber dem om hjälp med att hitta farao Charabhoteps andra grav och det botemedel som han torr finns där, men han utsätts nästan direkt för ett mordförsök.
