"The Spider Widow and the Raven" by Frank Borth depicts Daine Grayton (the Spider Widow) attempting to meet with the Raven at a secret rendezvous in the mountains, only to be ambushed by gunfire and forced to flee into darkness. Another story features the discovery of a tire-theft ring operating from the Clover Club, where Toby stakes out the location and observes gangsters stealing tires from parked cars. "The Snake Men" is a prose adventure story in which explorer Perry Scott and Felipe Neves encounter a legendary ruined city in the Philippine mountains inhabited by strange serpentine creatures capable of human speech.
The Fargo Kid uncovers murder and sabotage when an Eastern woman is found dead near a remote ridge house in Dry Gulch—and Tim Turner's keen eye for western frontier knowledge exposes that the scientist employer's snake-bite story doesn't add up. When the truth leads to a plot to wreck a troop train, the Fargo Kid must race against time to stop the saboteurs and warn the locomotive before disaster strikes.
Poison Ivy faces off against a fraudulent fortune teller operating as "Swami Salami" who's been bilking customers with fake prophecies. When the Mighty Mite decides to investigate the racket, things take a comedic turn as the con artist gets a taste of his own dubious fortune-telling abilities. It's a lighthearted romp that proves sometimes the best way to expose a scam is to let the schemer experience the consequences firsthand.
