“Flinging a Flute Plug”

In "Flinging a Flute Plug," Felix the Cat lands a plum gig as the pet of a wealthy tycoon, thanks to his quick work retrieving a lost collar button just before a major speech. The tycoon’s resentful butler, Snobbs, isn’t thrilled about the new addition to the household—and his scheming ways are already stirring. Written, drawn, and inked by Otto Messmer, this 1949 Dell comic captures the classic charm of the character with crisp art and playful mischief. The cover, also by Messmer, perfectly captures the moment of high-stakes pet adoption.

Felix fancies a home as the pet of a rich tycoon. When the man loses a collar button less than an hour before an important speaking engagement, Felix finds the button and is adopted by the tycoon - with all the food he can eat. This does not sit well with Snobbs, the tycoon's resentful, scheming (and aptly named) butler.
