Captain Palerмо leads a small group of Marines in a daring ruse, using noise and deception to make the Japanese believe a full division is attacking from the left. As the enemy scrambles to respond, the Marines exploit the confusion to push forward, turning a bluff into a real advance.

Sergeant Joe Mastros is on the run from his duties, claiming he’s been evading the military to pursue a personal mission—though his reasons are far from simple. When he’s caught, he recounts a whirlwind week of hitchhiking to Korea, joining a combat unit, and taking command after the officers are killed, all while trying to avoid being discovered.
