This is an anthology issue featuring two stories: the cover story "Here Come Quigley and Beals," in which two Marines devise a plan to sabotage a rocket launch by stowing away aboard a spacecraft and interfering with the scientists' work, ultimately resulting in the rocket's failure and their escape. The issue also includes "Gil's Gals," a humorous feature in which a man boasts of his collection of photographs of attractive women, claiming he was once a top commercial photographer in New York.

Contains 3 stories
Errand of Mercy
4 pp

Two Marine rivals, Quig and Beals, find themselves reassigned from combat duty to serve as corpsmen—a move each suspects the other orchestrated out of spite. When their unit is rushed to the front to stop an enemy breakthrough, the two must set aside their bitterness and work together tending to the wounded in the thick of battle, discovering that mercy under fire demands its own kind of courage.

Flight of Fancy
14 pp

After months of front-line combat, PFC Patrick Michael Quigley and PFC Marmaduke Beals are reassigned to guard duty at a desert rocket station—and their boredom vanishes when they reunite with Lotta Huggins, a woman from their past who now works as a secretary to the station's chief scientist. When the researchers need human test subjects for a simulated lunar flight, Lotta devises a scheme to get the two Marines aboard the rocket, setting in motion a wild "flight of fancy" neither of them sees coming.

King of Hearts
5 pp

Back on American soil and heading to their next assignment by train, the brawling duo of Quigley and Beals decide to settle their boasting with a high-stakes wager in the small town of Walkerville—fifty bucks to whoever can land a date first in just one hour. What unfolds is a frantic, comedic scramble through town as each leatherneck pursues woman after woman, each encounter more disastrous than the last, racing against the clock to claim the title of King of Hearts.
