Alice falls in love with struggling engineer Bill but her wealthy father thinks he’s a fortune-hunter. Alice agrees to move to England with her parents for six months to prove her love for Bill can stand the separation. Once there, she’s courted by penniless aristocrat Matt and wonders if she’s falling for him. Bill arrives for a visit and Alice overhears him admit to Matt that he only cares for Alice's money. Alice decides to marry Matt.
