First Wave #6
"First Wave Conclusion" delivers a high-stakes finale to the series' bold first arc, as Doc’s war for control of Neolantis reaches its boiling point. With the city drowning and forces from every side converging—Batman ambushed, a colossal iguana destroyed, and a reversed tsunami bearing down—every choice carries weight. Brian Azzarello’s gripping narrative, rendered with intense precision by Rags Morales and a dynamic team of inkers, colorist Nei Ruffino, and letterer Clem Robins, culminates in a moment of quiet defiance: Doc declares victory not in conquest, but in the spark he’s ignited. The cover by J. G. Jones captures the chaos and scale of the moment, a striking visual anchor to a story that redefines what it means to win.

In Neolantis, Doc kills the robot, actually a mindless cyborg. In the pit, Johnny, Wu Cheng, and Rima escape and blow up the giant iguana. Colossi is ambushed by Batman. A tsunami has been reversed to bear down on Neolantis. Blackhawks bomb the wave as Doc's crew boards an escape pod. Doc rides outside holding Batman. In NYC, John Sunlight's scheme of irradiated-gold corpses has failed, and he oddly lets Doc's men and The Avenger go. The Golden Tree's Neolantis is drowned. On the beach, Doc calls it a victory, even if they only inspire others to do better.
