Jeff Lemire's solo masterwork continues with this fourth issue, where the cover puts a uniformed officer front and center — flashlight in hand, badge on chest — as an enormous, unsettling insect looms behind him in the shadowy reeds. The tension between the mundane authority of law enforcement and the grotesque natural world pressing in around him captures exactly the kind of quietly unnerving atmosphere Lemire has made his own. If you've been following this series, issue four looks like essential reading.
