During a feverish haze, Philip Wentworth enters the spirit world. As a ghost in that world, he saves the spirit Maureen and others from pirates. Maureen falls in love with him and follows him back to the land of the living. As a ghost in the living world, she saves Philip from his murderous brother and fiancee. Afterwards Philip kills himself so he can enter the spirit world as a spirit himself to be with Maureen.
