“Phantom of the Plains”

In "Phantom of the Plains," Porky and Petunia head to the Bar-Soap Ranch, owned by Petunia’s uncle Baked Ham, only to be ambushed by a hypnotized Sylvester. When the criminal behind the trance, Hypnotic Harry, reveals himself as the mysterious Phantom and steals the ranch’s treasure map, the duo must unravel the clues before the villain strikes again. Roger Armstrong handles both the interior art and the cover, bringing the western mystery to life with his distinctive style.

Porky and Petunia go to the "Bar-Soap Ranch," owned by Petunia's uncle Baked Ham. On the way they are held up by Sylvester, who has been hypnotized by a criminal named Hypnotic Harry. Sylvester snaps out of his trance and the Sheriff arrives to explain the situation. The villain hitches a ride to the Bar-Soap Ranch where he kidnaps Petunia's uncle and leaves a note saying he prefers to be called "The Phantom" instead of Hypnotic Harry. Further investigation shows that Petunia's uncle had just found a map to a lost gold mine and that map is missing, too.
