This anthology issue contains two war stories. "Eight-Ball Hero" depicts soldiers in a foxhole under intense enemy attack from all sides, with one soldier operating a machine gun while another loads ammunition and declares the battle isn't a picnic area. "Operation Foul-Up" follows Private Chambers, who is concealed during a Korean War ambush orchestrated by Sergeant Smith; when Communist soldiers approach, Chambers discovers Smith's plan was actually a trap that goes wrong, leading Chambers to question whether Smith deliberately sacrificed him. The second story shifts to the home front, showing military personnel on leave socializing and discussing their comrades, with an air raid alert interrupting their evening as enemy bombers approach London.
