Frontier Western #6
In "They Raid by Night!", the townsfolk of a lawless frontier outpost pin their hopes on a legendary gunslinger known only as "The Man From Owlhoot City"—a name whispered with awe, a man said to have cleaned up other towns single-handed. When the stagecoach arrives, it brings not the feared stranger, but a quiet 'dude' and a young woman, drawing mockery from local bully Jasper Hawkins. But when a gang of outlaws strikes under cover of darkness, the unassuming newcomer proves he’s more than just a name—drawing his weapon with startling speed and riding bareback through the dust to bring the raiders to justice. Syd Shores handles both pencils and inks for the interior, capturing every tense moment in stark, kinetic detail, while John Severin’s cover art delivers the full, dramatic weight of the western showdown.

A town sheriff sends for "The Man From Owlhoot City", who had cleaned up another town single-handed. No one knows his name or anything about him beyond his reputation as the fastest gun in the west. All wait with eager anticipation, but the next stage to arrive brings no one but a 'dude' and a young woman. Local rough Jasper Hawkins shoves the 'dude' around, but he grabs a gun and claims he cannot stop firing. The gang ride off and he grabs a horse and follows, hanging on to the neck for dear life. Catching up, he subdues them with ease and brings them back to jail.
