Funny Picture Stories #9
In "Pokey Forgets to Rememrer [sic]," a 1938 10-cent comic from Centaur, the king’s guardians worry about his isolated education and send him to a semi-private school to learn fairness and humility—under a false name. Written, drawn, and inked by Claire S. Moe, the story follows the young monarch as he navigates school life while hiding his true identity, quickly drawing the ire of the scorned Master Brut. The cover by Charles Biro captures the moment with a playful, period-accurate flair.
