In "Cobra Renewed!", the G.I. Joe team races to free Snake-Eyes from a trap set by the Commander, while a desperate call from New York triggers a laser strike that halts a Cobra pursuit. Meanwhile, in Borovia, Zartan—posing as President Metz’s aide Wolfgang—plants a bomb that kills the leader, paving the way for his own rise. Back at base, Roadblock and Tunnel Rat deliver the final papers, officially reactivating Joe to full G.I. Joe status. Written by Larry Hama and illustrated by Phil Gosier, with inks by Scott Koblish and colors by Chi, this 1994 issue features a cover by Phil Gosier.

As the Joe team is freeing Snake-Eyes from the Commander's trap, a call is made to Joe in New York to fire a laser to stop the Cobra forces in hot pursuit, which succeeds. In Borovia, Zartan, disguised as Wolfgang, plants a bomb killing President Metz, setting up Wolfgang as that country's liberator. Roadblock and Tunnel Rat later appear to Joe with drafting papers, reactivating him to full status as a true G.I. Joe.
