In G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #243, the Joes make a desperate escape from a compound in Trucial Abysmia, commandeering militia vehicles to flee. Written by Larry Hama and illustrated by S. L. Gallant, with inks by Brian Shearer, colors by J. Brown, and letters by Neil Uyetake, the issue’s cover by Gallant captures the tension of that harrowing moment.
