G.I. Joe, a Real American Hero #63
In "Going Under," the G.I. Joe team splits across two fronts as Flint and Lady Jaye, Snake-Eyes, Scarlett, and the Blind Master vanish after triggering a mine in Grenada—news relayed by Flint to Hawk in San Francisco, where Billy, Jinx, and Storm Shadow await updates. Meanwhile, Cobra’s watchful eyes follow the Joes in Utah and San Francisco, leading to a tense underground operation in Utah where the team surfaces for a sudden game of football, while Stalker and the captured Joes plot their escape from a hidden gulag—just as Fred VII departs for Cobra Island in the Pogo vehicle. Written by Larry Hama and illustrated by Ron Wagner, with inks by Andy Mushynsky, colors by Bob Sharen, and letters by Joe Rosen, this issue’s cover by Mike Zeck and Bob McLeod captures the tension of a mission gone deep.
