In "Gabby Hayes Meets Billy the Kid," the outlaw Scattershot Wilde seeks an alliance with the legendary gunman Billy the Kid to aid in his criminal endeavors, as Billy is known to be dangerously unpredictable. During a confrontation, Gabby Hayes becomes involved in the conflict and pursues a mysterious figure known as the Gray Ghost, who has robbed a prisoner and left a burned ring marked with an X as a calling card. Gabby searches for the Gray Ghost through the night, eventually encountering and chasing the phantom figure across rooftops and through various locations.
