Gene Autry arrives in town just as the notorious outlaw Old Rock Ross—recently freed from prison—begins stirring up serious trouble on his grandson Young Rock's behalf, turning the hot-headed boy into a weapon against rancher Bret Carr in a decades-old vendetta. When Young Rock's recklessness leaves one of Carr's men badly hurt, Gene and Sheriff Mike Barnes ride out to the Ross ranch to bring the boy in, only to find themselves facing down a family determined to protect their own—and a grandpa who hasn't forgotten how to make his own rules.
When Champion decides to explore the upper range, he stumbles upon young Betsy Neal and her lamb Fluff stranded on a treacherous hillside—and what follows is a test of the horse's courage and resourcefulness. As Champion races to bring Betsy to safety, an hungry eagle strikes, snatching Fluff away, but the determined stallion refuses to give up on the frightened lamb. Champion must face down both a powerful bird of prey and a prowling bobcat if he's to reunite his friends.
