“Pride & Penance!”

In "Pride & Penance!", the Generation X team confronts a haunting mystery as Synch awakens from a coma, triggering a revelation about the true nature of the twins—once merged with their sister Monet, now split again after years of identity entanglement. As the past unfolds, Emplate’s betrayal and Monet’s transformation into Penance are laid bare, while the present sees a dramatic reversal where the twins and their sister reclaim their true selves. With Terry Dodson and Rachel Dodson’s dynamic art bringing the emotional weight to life, and Felix Serrano’s colors grounding the surreal moments, this issue deepens the team’s legacy with a poignant, identity-driven story.

Synch is in a coma but snaps out of it. The twins explain their origins. Emplate asked his sister, Monet,to take part in his world ruling schemes. She laughed him off. Emplate transformed her into Penance. Their sisters sent him to an alternate dimension. Penance followed. Mourning their sister, the twins merged into one being that looked like her. Thus, Monet has been Penance and the twins have been M. In the present, the twins switch places with their sister so she is once again herself and the twins are Penance. Bianca turns sentient roaches into dwarves and decides to use them as lackeys.
