1977: Eva Svedberg följer med en grupp gerillakämpar från Zambia till Rhodesia för att vaccinera ortsbefolkningen mot kolera. Detta måste göras i hemlighet då den vita regeringen inte tillåter detta. Väl i Rhodesia träffar gruppen på den svenske journaliten Anders Johnsson som ansluter till dem. Vaccinationerna lyckas väl, men Eva blir tillfångatagen av överste White. De övriga i gruppen sätter igång en fritagningsaktion.
