Fred, in Venkman's body, reunites with his mobster bosses after discarding the deceased Ghostbusters in the East River. Meanwhile, Stantz, Spengler, and Zeddemore find themselves in Purgatory, navigating a hostile landscape. As they're attacked by souls, including a seemingly benign elderly woman, Fred declares independence from his former ghostly bosses, emboldened by his new physical form and Ghostbuster equipment. After evading initial attackers, Zeddemore is drawn to a familiar face, Janelle, separating from the group.
